Big Baboon ... If there was moonlight on Piccadilly Circus, if the stars were shining down what with the neon, you just couldn't tell. & I was similarly moonlit yet moonless, starlit yet bind at the gates of my private Hell. So I started drinking to illuminate the path that I'd lost. Soon my head was reeling, my emotions were unstable. As my head & my heart fought like brothers torn apart I got Cained & completely un-Abel. I needed starlight for a sense of true proportion. I needed the cool guiding light of the Moon. I started drinking to uncover an Angel, but what I found was a Big Baboon. Big Baboon, Big Baboon, be my friend, be my stars, be my Moon. Show me the way home to my Angel. Show me how to get back soon. I said: 'I confess I'm a sickening mess of a man in distress whose banished from Heart & from Home. I don't know the way back to pay back the life that I've squandered I need to be shown. I'm longing for my True Love, I'm longing for my bed. So won't you help me find the way out from this maze in my head?!' & he said: 'You look like a stranger who's lost on a dangerous night in a dangerous town. In your unspiritual climate, you need a primate like me to show you around. An Angel's help would cost more than your mean heart could pay, so follow my monkey-arse down the underpass & I'll show you the way. Don't try to look for the stars you've fallen too far for their sparkle to reach down & find you. Just move right along, & groove to the song of the monkey who's come to unblind you. Coz I may not be an Angel, but I know their favourite tunes. Angels all dance to the music of the Big Baboon, Big Baboon.' Be my friend be my stars be my moon. Show me the way home to my Angel. Show me how to get back soon. Are you bedazzled by your own screaming Piccadilly madness? Do you long for the cool guiding light of the moon? Then call on no-one so exalted as an Angel, just say the name of the Big Baboon.
